What We Want To Build Next

Feature plans for Workbetter

Workbetter already helps with schedule comparison and Workday-side helpers. This page is for the bigger planning features we want to add next, especially the ones that make the planner more helpful before registration even starts.

Current focus: planning intelligence Goal: turn schedules into real academic decisions

Major and requirement tracking

See what courses you still need Show remaining courses, requirement buckets, and major or minor progress directly inside the planner.
Match schedules to degree progress Make it easier to compare schedules based on what actually moves you forward.

Course recommendations

Recommend useful next classes Suggest courses that fit your current path, not just ones that happen to be conflict-free.
Show stronger alternatives Recommend nearby substitutes when a class is full, blocked, or creates too many conflicts.

Smarter planner assistance

  • Explain why one schedule is better than another, not just rank them silently.
  • Surface classes that create the biggest conflicts or force awkward daily gaps.
  • Suggest easier changes, like swapping to another section or professor, before telling you to remove a course.

Website and extension roadmap together

The planner site and the Chrome extension should keep feeling like one system. Longer term, that means the website can help decide what to take, while the extension helps carry that decision into Workday faster.

We want the handoff between planning, comparison, and registration to feel much more direct.

Why this page exists

So users can see where Workbetter is going next, not just what it already does today.
